Introducing Business Central Efficiently: The ENKO 6-Stage Method

Introduction

For midsize companies, introducing a new ERP system is often a major effort: processes have to be analyzed, data migrated, employees trained and systems integrated. Meanwhile, day-to-day business carries on. No wonder that many projects take longer or cost more than planned.

To prevent exactly that, we at ENKO Software have developed a proven 6-stage method that makes introducing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central structured, transparent and successful.

Stage 1: Analysis and Goal Definition

Before the technology starts, it is about the right strategy:

  • Which business goals should Business Central help achieve?
  • Where are the biggest bottlenecks? (for example warehouse, production planning, quality assurance)
  • Which KPIs should improve?

In workshops with management and the leadership teams we create clarity and a shared picture of the goal.

Stage 2: Process Mapping and Target Concept

An ERP system is only as good as the processes it maps. That is why we record the existing workflows together and examine:

  • Which processes can be carried over?
  • Where is there room for optimization?
  • Which interfaces are needed (for example to machines, CRM or DMS)?

The result is a target concept that everyone involved understands and supports.

Stage 3: System Configuration and Customization

Business Central is modular and flexible — we tailor it precisely to your requirements.

  • Setting up the relevant modules (finance, purchasing, production, warehouse, sales)
  • Adjustments via extensions or custom software where necessary
  • Integration into existing Microsoft environments (Teams, Outlook, Power BI, Copilot)

The result is a system that fits your processes — not the other way around.

Stage 4: Data Migration and Test Operation

A frequently underestimated point: clean data.

  • Cleaning up legacy data from Excel or old ERP systems
  • Ensuring consistent master data (items, customers, vendors)
  • Setting up a test system in which real processes are run through with real data

That builds confidence and reduces risk at the later go-live.

Stage 5: Training and Change Management

An ERP system is only successful if employees actually use it. That is why we place great value on:

  • hands-on training for every department
  • clear role and permission concepts
  • accompanying communication so that everyone understands the benefit

Management and the head of engineering play a key role here: they are the internal drivers and role models.

Stage 6: Go-Live and Continuous Optimization

After a successful test, the system goes into live operation. We accompany the go-live closely so that problems are solved immediately.
But the project does not end there:

  • monitoring the KPIs
  • fine-tuning the processes
  • expanding with additional modules or automations

That way Business Central does not stay a mere ERP — it keeps developing along with your company.

Conclusion

Introducing an ERP system does not have to be a risk. With the ENKO 6-stage method we create a clear structure, reduce project risk and make sure that Business Central delivers value quickly — from the warehouse to the executive floor.
